What made you join k6 / Grafana Labs?
I've always wanted to work on a technical, developer-oriented product. Together with being big on open source and having only good feedback from a friend of mine - it made a perfect match for me.
What's your background?
Coming from fullstack background I joined k6 as a frontend engineer.
I've been in the field for 10+ years now, started my first paid gigs as a PHP developer, mostly working on e-commerce sites. The first years were really weird and awkward - trying to digest as much as possible and figure out which direction to pick. After a few years, I discovered Ruby (and Rails), which proved a game-changer. After struggling with an outdated framework in PHP everything finally started to make sense and it was the spark for my passion for development.
After few years in Ruby world, I had to do another switch - that was around the time that JS gained momentum and started to be used everywhere. At this point, I switched to React and NodeJS - and even though I no longer use Ruby it will always have a special place in my heart.
What do you look forward to working on?
Switching from my IDE or terminal to the GUI for k6 Cloud hurts my eyes. I go from dark themes to light mode, which is a hard switch. For my week of testing - a newcomer assignment - I created a mockup for k6 Cloud dark mode:
What do you do outside of work?
My hobbies include dirt-biking, hiking, snowboarding. I love mountains and nature so I never pass on an opporutinity to visit a beautiful place!
