We are excited to introduce Ioannis Papadakis to the k6 community and put him in the spotlight! Ioannis joins us from Greece and currently works as a Director of QA.
When I first met Ioannis virtually, I already gained the impression that he was (and still is!) a big k6 advocate. He’s been sharing his knowledge by speaking at meet-ups, writing blog posts, and organising a meet-up group.
Now, let's get to know him more!
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I have been working in the tech industry for more than 13 years in the field of QA engineering. Throughout my career, I have always pursued to gain knowledge about agile methodologies and agile techniques in testing. I am currently working in GWI as Director of QA, driving and shaping the testing strategy in our market research platform. I am always passionate about sharing knowledge within the tech community so we can stay connected with experts in the field.
What do you do outside of work?
I am mainly trekking and mountain hiking in the mornings. But as a guilty pleasure, I would definitely point out eating ice cream while watching Netflix series, only if the children are in bed (who doesn’t do that 🙂). Of course, travelling with my family and playing board games with my daughter is a must.
What made you decide to become a k6 Champion?
I was always passionate about giving back to the tech community, so I have participated in various conferences and meet-ups before. I have been experimenting with k6.io as a performance testing tool for over three years and found it elegant and easy for our engineering teams to use. I am confident that I can spread the word to more companies and professionals, and for doing that, what more of an excellent opportunity to have k6 support on my journey through the champion program?
How are you currently helping the k6 community?
I recently organised a new meet-up group called Athens SDET Meetup that already includes more than 100 tech professionals. I aim to share knowledge with others in the fields of test automation and agile testing. I have also created a series of k6 online events to share more information with companies that are interested in performance and load testing. Apart from the meet-up, I have been writing in my personal and GWI tech blogs around various k6 topics! So much fun! 😊
What do you love about k6?
I love the simplicity of the tool and how easily it can be used by any professional, whether you are a developer or a tester. But I love the most the observation and monitoring part of Grafana integration. k6 nicely integrates with Grafana to take the full power of observability in our delivery pipelines!
What's your most favourite k6 feature?
Most features are fantastic, but I would go with k6 extensions. It's incredible to extend the k6 core based on your needs. With basic knowledge of Go and JavaScript, you can build your extension in just a few minutes!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a k6 Champion?
Do it without hesitation! It is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with the experts of the k6 community and provide your technical expertise as well! Apart from the recognition you will receive, you will have the chance to increase your knowledge around performance testing and be part of a bigger “family”! Woohoo!!! 🥳
